It is officially National Small Business Week! A very good time to celebrate small business owners and the outstanding contributions you make to our community and the country.

Here are a few fast facts about National Small Business Week. It has been continuously recognized each year since 1963 and is the result of a proclamation issued by the President of the United States. Small businesses create nearly 70% of new jobs in the U.S. each year, and over 50% of Americans either own or work for a small business. According to the Arizona branch of the SBA, over 97 percent of the businesses in the state are small businesses and have proven, year after year, to be the greatest sources of the innovation, jobs, and growth for Arizona’s economy. Hats off to all of the small business owners and entrepreneurs in Arizona and Phoenix for the many great contributions you are making to our economy, community, and the environment.

During National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration offers many in-person and online programs aimed at recognition, education, and inspiration. There aren’t any in-person events in Arizona, and the online events appear to be all filled up. Don’t miss out next year; make sure to put Small Business Week on your calendar if you want to register for one of their events.
